4. Don’t repost without checking the facts – If someone shares some incorrect information with you or posts that false information to a website there is the potential that inaccurate piece of data could be re-posted or re-shared hundreds or even thousands of times before its corrected. This means it is even more important than ever before to be mindful that what we are posting to the internet is correct and factual. As Mark Twain famously said, “A lie can travel halfway around the while the truth is still putting on its shoes!”
5. Check and respond to email promptly – There was once a time when people would have to wait days, weeks or months to receive replies to correspondence or letters. The speed and availability of electronic mail has made that a thing of the past. However, waiting days or weeks to respond to an email is generally considered to be in very poor taste. Because everyone is aware that email receipt is nearly instantaneous, not responding to an email is viewed as either an insult or an affront. Worse yet it could be viewed as a mannerism attributed to someone who is not digitally savvy enough to use the email platform. |
